Easington MP Grahame Morris has backed a festive initiative by local business Taste Buds, Seaham, who will by providing Christmas lunch for veterans and the wider community who would otherwise be alone this Christmas.

Taste Buds is a local catering business based on The Avenue, Seaham.

Owners Tracey and Matthew Elves wanted to support our Veterans community in view of the immense service and sacrifice they have given to the nation. The Christmas lunch is particularly poignant in the centenary year of the end of the Great War.

Tracy Elves, owner of Taste Buds said:

“I have been overwhelmed by the support of the local community and the donations they have provided to make Christmas extra special for our veterans.

No one should be alone at Christmas and I hope this year’s Veterans Christmas lunch will be the first of many.

While the initiative is for Veterans, we are also welcoming the wider community, as Christmas is a time to bring people together and make new friends.”

Easington MP Grahame Morris said:

“I am delighted to support the Veterans’ Christmas lunch and to recognise the immense kindness and generosity of Tracy and Matthew; who are giving up their time to organise and prepare Christmas dinner for people who would otherwise be alone.

They are an example of the fantastic local businesses we have in East Durham who are rooted in our community and give so much back, particularly at this time of year”

David McKenna, Founder of Seaham Remember Them Fund said:

“I would like to thank Tracy and Matthew for the time and effort they are making to support veterans this Christmas.

Seaham is fortunate to have local businesses like Taste Buds that are part of the community and give so much back to the area.

This is a fantastic initiative which I know will go from strength to strength in the years ahead. I hope the people of Seaham and the wider area will help this year’s Veterans’ Christmas lunch by giving donations that will be offered as gifts to those attending the dinner.”

Anyone wanting to support the Veterans’ Christmas Lunch can give donations to Taste Buds, 55a The Avenue, Seaham or by calling on 0191 513 0843
